Injuries of the knee in athletes vary somewhat from injuries in other patients. This is due to several factors. The degree of conditioning and quality of the tissues in athletic knees are higher. The types of injury are more sports specific (for example, anterior cruciate ligament tears). Finally, the expectations of the athletes for post treatment functional outcome tend to be higher due to their sporting interests. Thus, surgical techniques have evolved in the last 10 to 20 years that have allowed for less invasive repair and reconstruction of knee injuries in the athlete to allow a high level of return to function with minimal invasiveness.

At Haq Orthopedic Hospital we provide the highest quality and effective care for all spine problems. Each patient is carefully evaluated by a team of spine specialists, who develop an appropriate plan to treat the individual's specific needs. The team includes orthopaedic surgeons, pain management physicians, physical therapists, and electrodiagnostic specialists.

Most people in their lifetime will experience some type of back pain. Typically pain is caused by an injury or by degeneration in the spine. Most problems are self-limited; they resolve within a few days by using over-the-counter medications and limiting activities. When back pain is severe or lasts for more than a week or two, an evaluation by a physician is recommended.

Hip and Knee Arthritis:

Many different types of arthritis can affect the hip and knee joints, but the most common of these is osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is essentially a gradual "wear and tear" type joint destruction that is manifest by pain, swelling, and loss of function. It usually affects people in their senior years, but can occasionally occur in middle age.

Initial treatment for osteoarthritis of the hip or knee is conservative, consisting of rest, avoidance of vigorous weight bearing activities, and the use of non-narcotic analgesic and or anti inflammatory medications. With worsening symptoms a cane or a knee brace may be helpful. For more severe symptoms, an injection of cortisone into the joint is frequently advised and can be quite helpful.

The foot and ankle provide a foundation and bear the weight of the entire body. Keeping the patient's feet and ankles free of pain will allow them greater mobility and freedom to pursue activities they enjoy.

Patients experience a number of foot and ankle problems including bunions, heel pain, neuromas, hammertoes and flat feet, all of which can result in severe pain. Foot and ankle pain can make a patient feel tired and irritable, often interfering with the ability to perform many daily tasks. Many factors contribute to the cause of pain in the foot and ankle, including poorly fitting shoes, heredity, aging and disease.

Athletes and dancers sometimes experience unique foot and ankle problems related to the stress on these joints while participating in practice and events. The physicians at Ozark Orthopaedics have experience in correcting and/or preventing foot and ankle injury for these active individuals. Read more...

The mobility of the shoulder makes it prone to injury. The shoulder joint is used in pushing, pulling, reaching and swinging our arms. Even simple tasks like getting dressed in the morning involves use of the shoulder.

Because it is used so much and is so complex, problems with the shoulder can occur over time or due to a sudden injury. Fortunately, your orthopaedic surgeon can provide relief from the symptoms caused by such injuries.

When these vulnerable joints are injured, our lifestyle suffers. From the repair of rotator cuff injuries, to total shoulder replacement surgery, to elbow reconstruction, HAQ Orthopaedic offer thorough knowledge and experience to restore your shoulder and elbow function.

Joint problems can occur at any age. With the medical technology available today, it is no longer necessary to endure the pain and tolerate the limitation of activities associated with deteriorated joints.

The knee and hip joint are the major weight-bearing joints in the human body. The considerable stress that these joints are subject to during a lifetime often results in extensive wear of the joint surfaces. These joint surfaces are covered by a spongy soft tissue called cartilage. The cartilage normally serves as a lubricating surface and allows free gliding of the joint surfaces back and forth as one goes about daily activities. When the cartilage wears to the point that it no longer adequately covers the underlying bone, significant pain results with activity.
